DUAL INTENT DOCTRINE:

Certain nonimmigrant visas have both a short-term intent to depart the States and the intent to remain permanently.  Sound confusing? Simply put there are temporary visas that permit you to enter the United States for a temporary period and concurrently you can have the intent to remain permanently by applying for your US citizenship.
